Colourful Roses & Chrysanthemums

The vivid colours and contrasting flower shapes of roses and chrysanths complement each other, creating a lively impression. These flowers suit birthday wishes, congratulations on an achievement or a thank-you. Cut roses are grown as large-flowered and spray varieties; spray roses carry several flowers on one stem. Chrysanths are among the few cut flowers that are not sensitive to ethylene, so proximity to ripening fruit does not affect them. If santini are included, remove the leaves from the lower parts of the santini stems before placing the flowers in a vase, as they break down quickly in water and shorten vase life. Also remove from the greenery any leaves that would sit below the waterline, as they quickly spoil the water.
