Gerberas and Carnations

The open gerbera blooms contrast with the ruffled carnation heads, while foliage forms a backdrop and gives the bouquet volume, shape and colour contrast. Pink, yellow and white tones, along with small white gypsophila flowers, create a fresh, cheerful mood. Gypsophila lasts around 10 to 14 days in a vase, and its buds open gradually. The bouquet suits birthdays or as a thank-you, and can also add a colourful accent to an interior. Gerbera stems are soft and can bend; a narrower vase or support helps keep the blooms upright. Cut carnation stems between the nodes rather than at the thickened joint, where they take up water less easily.
