Loděnice has about 2,040 residents and lies around 8 km east of Beroun. The D5 motorway runs through the municipality and has exit 10. The Prague-Smíchov to Beroun railway line passes through the municipality, and Loděnice station opened in 1897.

The first written record of the municipality dates from 1088, and its oldest monument is the Romanesque Church of St Wenceslas from the 12th century. The Neo-Renaissance chateau, built in 1873, now serves as a women’s Orthodox monastery dedicated to St Wenceslas and St Ludmila. A railway museum at the station recalls the Oscar-winning film shot in Loděnice in 1966.
